UPGRADING OF IPOH AIRPORT
1.1 The Ipoh Airport will be upgraded to accommodate B738 / A320 aircraft operation. The main
works will include the upgrading of the infrastructures in the airside and the terminal building.
All works are slated for completion by October 2012.
2.1 The purpose of this Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC) is to provide advance information
and advice regarding the scope of works pertaining to the Ipoh Airport upgrading programme.
This AIC will be followed by a number of AIP Supplements that will provide details of the
upgrading works, introduction of new facilities and revision to the existing procedures.
3. TERMINAL BUILDING
3.1 The existing terminal building will be upgraded with the aim to improve the passengers
comfort level. A new roof and façade will be constructed, the area of Departure Hall and
Arrival Hall will be increased, and the building will be fully air-conditioning.
4. AIRCRAFT MOVEMENT AREAS AND ANCILLARY FACILITIES
4.1 The existing runway pavement of 1798M x 36M will be extended from threshold Runway 04
by 120 meters and from threshold Runway 22 by 82 meters. The existing runway pavement
will be widened from 36 meter to 45 meter. When completed the runway pavement will be
2000M x 45M. Runway End Safety Area (RESA) of 90M x 90M provided at both runway

5. NAVIGATIONAL AIDS AND VISUAL AIDS
5.1 A new Aerodrome Ground Lighting (AGL) will be provided for the extended runway
and the new taxiway.
5.2 The Simple Approach Lighting System for Runway 04 will remain at the existing
position because the landing Threshold 04 will remain at the existing position. The
extended portion of the runway is intended to be used for departure.
5.3 The threshold Runway 22 will also remain at the existing position.
